The impact of plastic on the Environment

It’s clear to see when purchasing from online retailers or instore that still many products arrive or are sold in plastic packaging. We’ve all seen the devastating impact of plastic on our planet, with scenes of sea life swimming alongside plastic packaging resonating with a national whilst watching David Attenboroughs Blue Planet, a stark reminder of the impact plastic has on our wildlife.

Plastic packaging not only lingers within our environment for years to come, but also spreads toxins. Almost all plastics are made from chemicals that come from fossil fuels further damaging the earth’s ecosystem.

It’s been reported that just a tiny fraction of all the 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic that has ever been produced 6.3 metric tons of that plastic has become waste, with only 9% actually recycled. If like us you find these numbers staggering then perhaps it’s time to make a change, not only in the items you purchase day to day but within your business.

Why it’s time to consider removing plastic from your packing process

If you still need convincing that single use plastic packaging needs to be replaced then we’re here to help.

Studies have shown that consumers would prefer to purchase from companies that are environmentally friendly, however it’s important to do this authentically. Whilst creating sustainable packaging is a brilliant first step, considering the way the rest of your business operates is key to making a change to our planet’s future.

Do your bit

It feels good to make a difference to the world. Creating packaging that is easily reused or recycled such as corrugated cardboard is a great way to replace plastic packaging. International companies such as Patagonia are a good example of making use of creating packaging as well as creating a brand which stands by its environmental impact on the world. Their packaging is made from 100% recyclable corrugated cardboard, with each step of the process considered from the packaging arriving flat pack from printer to factory to the package folding together with no glue required and finally resulting in an unique in store display perfect for attracting new customers.

Using inspiration from companies doing their fair share to change the way we see and use packaging is what we can bring to your packaging with each customer benefiting from individual support from one of our team.
